Mueller’s Report Speaks Volumes

By Kimberley A. Strassel

Wall Street Journal

April 19, 2019, print edition.

By the fall of 2017, it was clear that special counsel Robert Mueller, as a former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was too conflicted to take a detached look at a Russia-collusion story that had become more about FBI malfeasance than about Donald Trump. The evidence of that bias now stares at us through 448 pages of his report.

President Trump has every right to feel liberated. What the report shows is that he endured a special-counsel probe that was relentlessly, at times farcically, obsessed with taking him out. What stands out is just how diligently and creatively the special counsel’s legal minds worked to implicate someone in Trump World on something Russia- or obstruction-of-justice-related. And how—even with all its overweening power and aggressive tactics—it still struck out.

Volume I of the Mueller report, which deals with collusion, spends tens of thousands of words describing trivial interactions between Trump officials and various Russians. While it doubtless wasn’t Mr. Mueller’s intention, the sheer quantity and banality of details highlights the degree to which these contacts were random, haphazard and peripheral. By the end of Volume I, the notion that the Trump campaign engaged in some grand plot with Russia is a joke.

Yet jump to the section where the Mueller team lists its “prosecution and declination” decisions with regards the Russia question. And try not to picture Mueller “pit bull” prosecutor Andrew Weissmann collapsed under mountains of federal statutes after his two-year hunt to find one that applied.

Mr. Mueller’s team mulled bringing charges “for the crime of conspiracy—either under statutes that have their own conspiracy language,” or “under the general conspiracy statute.” It debated going after them for the “defraud clause,” which “criminalizes participating in an agreement to obstruct a lawful function of the U.S. government.” It considered the crime of acting as an “agent of a foreign government”—helpfully noting that this crime does not require “willfulness.”

Up to now, the assumption was that Mr. Mueller had resurrected long-ago violations of the rarely enforced Foreign Agent Registration Act of 1938 purely to apply pressure on folks like Paul Manafort and Mike Flynn. Now we find out that it was resurrected in hopes of applying it to campaign-period actions of minor figures such as Carter Page and George Papadopoulos.

Mueller’s team even considered charging Trump associates who participated with campaign-finance violations for the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Was that meeting “a conspiracy to violate the foreign contributions ban”? Was it “the solicitation of an illegal foreign source contribution”? Was it the receipt of “an express or implied promise to make a [foreign source] contribution”? The team considered that the law didn’t apply only to money—it could apply to a “thing of value.”

Until investigators realized it might be hard to prove the “promised documents” exceeded the “,000 threshold for a criminal violation.” The Mueller team even credited Democrats’ talking point that former Attorney General Jeff Sessions had committed perjury during his confirmation hearings—and devoted a section in the report to it.

As for obstruction—Volume II—Attorney General Bill Barr noted Thursday that he disagreed with “some of the special counsel’s legal theories.” Maybe he had in mind Mr. Mueller’s proposition that he was entitled to pursue obstruction questions, even though that was not part of his initial mandate from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Or maybe it was Mr. Mueller’s long description of what a prosecution of the sitting president might look like—even though he acknowledged its legal impossibility. Or it could be Mr. Mueller’s theory that while “fairness” dictates that someone accused of crimes get a “speedy and public trial” to “clear his name,” Mr. Trump deserves no such courtesy with regard to the 200 pages of accusations Mr. Mueller lodges against him.

That was Mr. Mueller’s James Comey moment. Remember the July 2016 press conference in which the FBI director berated Hillary Clinton even as he didn’t bring charges? It was a firing offense. Here’s Mr. Mueller engaging in the same practice—only on a more inappropriate scale. At least this time the attorney general tried to clean up the mess by declaring he would not bring obstruction charges. Mr. Barr noted Thursday that we do not engage in grand-jury proceedings and probes with the purpose of generating innuendo.

Mr. Mueller may not care. His report suggests the actual goal of the obstruction volume is impeachment: “We concluded that Congress has the authority to prohibit a President’s corrupt use of his authority.”

pastedGraphic.pngNote as well what isn’t in the report. It makes only passing, bland references to the genesis of so many of the accusations Mr. Mueller probed: the infamous dossier produced by opposition-research firm Fusion GPS and paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign. How do you exonerate Mr. Page without delving into the scandalous Moscow deeds of which he was falsely accused? How do you narrate an entire section on the July 2016 Trump Tower meeting without noting that Ms. Veselnitskaya was working alongside Fusion? How do you detail every aspect of the Papadopoulos accusations while avoiding any detail of the curious and suspect ways that those accusations came back to the FBI via Australia’s Alexander Downer?

The report instead mostly reads as a lengthy defense of the FBI—of its shaky claims about how its investigation began, of its far-fetched theories, of its procedures, even of its leadership.

One of the more telling sections concerns Mr. Comey’s firing. Mr. Mueller’s team finds it generally beyond the realm of possibility that the FBI director was canned for incompetence or insubordination. It treats everything the FBI or Mr. Comey did as legitimate, even as it treats everything the president did as suspect.

Mr. Mueller is an institutionalist, and many on his team were the same Justice Department attorneys who first fanned the partisan collusion claims. He was the wrong man to provide an honest assessment of the 2016 collusion dirty trick. And we’ve got a report to prove it.

Israel Commentary

Neglected information and opinion relative to Israel, the Middle East and the immediate world.

The American Founding Fathers memorialized Moses, Passover and the Jewish Exodus from Egypt

Redacted from an article By Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger in Israel Commentary, April 1, 2015

April 18, 2019

Passover, and especially the legacy of Moses and the Exodus, has been part of the American story since the seventeenth century, inspiring the American pursuit of liberty, justice and morality.

The special role played by Passover – and the Biblein shaping the American state of mind constitutes the foundation of the unique relations between the American People and the Jewish State. As important as are the current mutual threats and interests between the US and Israel, the bedrock of the unbreakable US-Israel alliance are permanent values, principles and legacies, such as Passover.

In 1620 and 1630, William Bradford and John Winthrop delivered sermons on the “Mayflower” and “Arbella,” referring to the deliverance from “modern day Egypt and Pharaoh,” to “the crossing of the modern day Red Sea” and to New Zion/Canaan as the destination of the Pilgrims on board.

In 1776, Thomas Paine, the author of Common Sense (which cemented public support for the revolution), referred to King George as the “hardened, sullen tempered Pharaoh.”

Upon declaration of independence, Benjamin Franklin, the most secular Founding Father, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the second third American Presidents, proposed a Passover theme for the official US seal: the Pillar of Fire leading Moses and the Israelites through the Red Sea, while Pharaoh’s chariots drown in the Sea.

The inscription on the seal was supposed to be: “Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God,” framing the rebellion against the British monarchy as principle-driven. The lessons of the Jewish deliverance from Egyptian bondage reverberated thunderously among the Rebels, who considered the thirteen colonies to be “the modern day Twelve Tribes.”

The 19th century Abolitionists, and the Civil Rights movement from the 1940s to the 1970s, were inspired by the ethos of the Exodus and by the Bible’s opposition to slavery.

In the 1830s, the Liberty Bell, an icon of American independence, was adopted by the Abolitionists, due to its Exodus-inspired inscription: “Proclaim liberty throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants thereof” (Leviticus 25:10).

Harriet Beecher Stowe, the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin (1852), and her husband, Calvin Ellis Stowe (“The Little Rabbi”) were scholars of the Bible and the Exodus.

Harriet Tubman, who escaped slavery in 1849 and freed Black slaves on the Underground Railroad, earned the name “Moses.” The 1879/80 Black slaves who ran away to Kansas were called “the Exodusters.” The most famous spiritual, “Go Down, Moses” was considered the National Anthem of Black slaves.

In 1865, following the murder of President Lincoln, most eulogies compared him to Moses. Just like Moses, Lincoln liberated slaves, but was stopped short of the Promised Land. France paid tribute to the martyred Lincoln by erecting the Statue of Liberty, featuring rays of sun and a tablet, just like the glaring Moses descending from Mount Sinai with the Two Tablets of the Ten Commandments.

In 1954, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. compared the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision to desegregate public schools to the parting of the Red Sea. In 1964, upon receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, Dr. King proclaimed: “Oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever. The yearning for freedom eventually manifests itself. The Bible tells the thrilling story of how Moses stood in Pharaoh’s court centuries ago and cried, ‘Let my people go.’”

President Reagan mentioned (Reagan at Westminster, 2010) Exodus as the first incident in a long line of Western resistance to tyranny: “Since the exodus from Egypt, historians have written of those who sacrificed and struggled for freedom – the stand at Thermopylae, the revolt of Spartacus, the storming of the Bastille, the Warsaw uprising in World War II.”

In July, 2003, President Bush stated, in Senegal, “In America, enslaved Africans learned the story of the exodus from Egypt, and set their own hearts on a promised land of freedom.”

In March, 2007, President Obama said in Selma, Alabama that the civil rights pioneers were the “Moses generation” and he was part of the “Joshua generation” that would “find our way across the river.”

(What Chutzpa! Obama as Joshua! More confirmation of Obama’s classic narcissism and grandiose posturing as just described in the previous Israel Commentary article) jsk

In 2012, the statue of Moses stares at the Speaker of the House, another statue of Moses towers above the seats of the Supreme Court Justices, a Ten Commandment monument sits on the ground of the Texas State Capitol and a similar monument will be shortly erected on the ground of the Oklahoma State Capitol.

In 2019, the leader of the Free World and its primary ally in the Mid-East, Israel, are facing the most lethal threat to liberty since 1945 – conventional and non-conventional Islamic terrorism.

Adherence to the legacy of Passover, marshaling the conviction-driven leadership of Moses, and demonstrating the Joshua and Caleb courage and defiance of odds, will once again facilitate the victory of liberty over tyranny.

By Elaine R. Miller

The Times of Israel, April 8 2019

Former US President Barack Obama was in Berlin the other day on behalf of The Obama Foundation. He had a meeting with Angela Merkel, the embattled Prime Minister of Germany now in her last term in office.

Why is a former President and leader of a political party currently trying to unseat the sitting President meeting with a head of state? The visuals appear to say he is trying to undermine Trump in Europe.

It is difficult to forget Obama’s 2012 whispered conversation to then President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, picked up on an open mike in which he was heard promising  “This is my last election. After my election I will have more flexibility.”

Was Obama’s confab with Merkel a repeat of the same? Was he telling her that when Trump is defeated in his re-election effort, the Democratic party would have more flexibility?

And why was Obama fundraising for the Obama Foundation in a foreign country?

History has shown that former presidents soliciting money abroad is a BAD thing.  (See: CLINTON CASH by Peter Schweizer (and the Clinton Foundation which is the cornerstone of the family’s extraordinary wealth. Chelsea really does not have to worry about being fired from her job – jsk)

On April 6 Obama addressed a Town Hall meeting organized by the Obama Foundation in Berlin. He was quoted as saying:

“We have to be careful in balancing big dreams and bold ideas with also recognizing that typically change happens in stages.”  He went on to warn against a “circular firing squad” over “ideological purity in politics.” (his usual aimless double talk)

Obama’s resurfacing in Berlin is an effort to paint himself as “reasonable and just” while simultaneously attacking his own party’s leaders. Obama apparently doesn’t seem to care about which Democratic candidate wins the nomination (unless it is him!), the Democratic party or America’s welfare.

He made his comments in public setting. He could have contacted each  potential candidate privately if he really wanted them to modify their behavior. He is now on a speeding money making train. His autobiography (his third) will reportedly be published this year. His goal is to burnish his own image as a prophetic leader

(He and Michelle just signed a 60 million dollar book deal! I guess it pays to be an ex-president, regardless of quality of performance)

Yet examination of his record shows the Obama Administration to have been one of “Big hat, no cows”. He made promises based on grandiose visions but accomplished little. He disabled American foreign policy, ensured the rise of despotic Iran. He lied about the effects of ObamaCare. Every prohibitively expensive policy he put in place, failed. If those weren’t the “big dreams and bold ideas” he warned against in Berlin, then nothing is.

Obama posted the following statement on his Twitter account on January 17, 2017. “I’m still asking you to believe – not in my ability to bring about change, but in yours. I believe in change because I believe in you.”

There is something vaguely Jim ish (the man who induced over 900 people to ingest a cyanide laced drink and commit suicide in Guyana in 1978) about the comment.

II   Who is Obama really?

Many Americans thought Obama was a secret Muslim.

They were wrong.

He worships himself.

Obama was the first president to use a selfie stick.

He has a big grin filled with large white teeth, close cropped hair. He stays slim and trim.

He walks like a ballet dancer.

He would grab the microphone when famous musical groups performed at the White House.

He put his feet up on the White House desk.

It was his desk now, wasn’t it?

He gave a speech the other day in which he referred to himself …(gasp) 467 times.

He will forever be remember as telling his Berlin audience ““There’s only one of me!”

For a man who did all he could to diminish the West and its contribution to Modern Civilization he is most attracted to the Greek god, Narcissus.

It could be worse.

He could be enamored of Echo.

KIMBERLEY STRASSEL: MUELLER’S INVESTIGATION IS DONE. NOW DIG INTO THE REAL SCANDAL — MISSTEPS OF COMEY, FBI

Wall Street Journal  March 29, 2019

The Department of Justice will release the Mueller report within weeks. Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Yoo predicts Trump’s critics will double down on their fishing expedition for evidence of Russia collusion.

Democrats are struggling over the direction of their party, and this week things got more complicated. In addition to the splits over the Green Leap Forward, Medicare for All and constitutional rewrites, Robert Mueller’s report has opened a new divide. It’s Team Reality vs. Team Bitter Enders.

Granted, the end of the special counsel’s probe is a shattering blow to Trump haters. So long as Mueller continued his investigation, the left and its media mates were free to spin collusion claims and nurse hopes of a toppled Trump presidency. Anyone who pushed back was told to sit down, shut up and wait until Mueller ruled. He now has. The party is over.

Realists understand the risks of continuing to dwell on collusion and obstruction of justice. Americans are weary of Mueller headlines. In a CNN poll this month, respondents listed the economy, immigration and health care as their most important issues for 2020. No one listed the special-counsel probe.

The Democrats who are actually charged with electing more Democrats understand this. In a leadership meeting Monday night, Illinois Rep. Cheri Bustos, head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, laid out the alarming reality: Voters have little idea what the Democratic policy agenda is; the party urgently needs to move beyond 2016.

The realists also understand the Mueller probe has gained the party little up to now, beyond gratifying its base.

While the resistance wallowed in collusion hysteria, Donald Trump presided over tax reform, massive deregulation and a remake of significant parts of the judiciary. He’s an incumbent presiding over a growing economy, with a campaign awash in money.

A Politico story recently warned the left not to put much stock in approval ratings: “If the election were held today,” the reporters wrote, Trump would “likely ride to a second term in a huge landslide, according to multiple economic models with strong track records of picking presidential winners and losses.”

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar Speaks

By Elaine R. Miller

The Times of Israel , Mar 31, 2019

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) appeared on the national scene as a delicate-faced Somali refugee. Upon her election, America welcomed her as a symbol of “diversity.” They should have looked a little closer.

Omar is a coiled barbed wire ball of rage against the country that rescued her, its interests and Israel. She is a headliner for Hamas.

She was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1996. At age 14, together with her family, she immigrated to the United States. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies and began to get involved in politics. She was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2016 and was sworn in 2017.

She was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018.

Upon taking her seat one of the first things Omar did was to heatedly express her support of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel, attack AIPAC and U.S legislators and Jews who support Israel. She most recently attacked House Democratic Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi for opposing BDS.

Where does this hatred come from? One can assume that her education and culture are partly to blame. She was raised in a community steeped in the suppression of the human rights of minority ethnic and religious groups and most particularly, of women.

Statistics show that 98% of Somalian women have undergone female genital mutilation, a life-changing procedure that can lead to incontinence, fistulas, difficulty childbearing. It is estimated that 80% of Somalian females between 5 and 14 have undergone FGM.

In 2016, the World Health Organization produced a study on the psychological effects of female gentle genital mutilization. The devastating effects are traumatic and permanent. (https://www.28toomany.org/blog/the-psychological-effects-of-female-genital-mutilation-research-blog-by-serene-chung/)

There are women who have emerged from the same culture as Omar who have become spokespersons for women’s rights, especially condemning FGM. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, also born in Mogadishu, Somalia underwent a FGM at age 5. She has written two autobiographies and has traveled the world to alert people to the problem..

What has been Omar’s political response to FGM? During the period that Omar was a member of the Minnesota House, member Mary Franson introduced a bill that would provide criminal penalties for parents or guardians who cause girls to undergo FGM

“The bill faced some questions from Rep. Ilhan Omar (DFL-Minneapolis), who believes prosecutors should have looked to existing laws to charge the parents. Omar also voiced her concern that Franson’s bill was introduced to gain media exposure. Rep. Ilhan Omar on genital mutilation bill: “What I don’t want us to do is to create laws because we want to get in the media.” “What I would like to have been done is to have (the parents) charged with laws that already exist,”

The bill passed the House and Omar, perhaps recognizing the inevitably of its passage (124-4) voted in favor of it.(http://www.startribune.com/minnesota-bill-against-female-mutilation-raises-opposition/423070383/)It went to the Minnesota Senate but it was not voted on prior to the end of the session.

The next year, 2018, Omar was elected to the Congress.

When one thinks of Omar one thinks of Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” except that in place of a silent, wordless fury there is fist-pumping and agitated rhetoric directed at her “enemies”. She jumped onto the Democratic Party “Victim Gravy Train” (gender, color, religion, country of origin) and exploited it for all it was worth.

Omar could have been a champion for the Somali community. Her story sounds good on paper. “Immigrant from war torn Mogadishu, rescued by America, gets elected to Congress”. But watch her at a recent CAIR fundraiser.

With the audio on, Omar sounds like Brooklyn/Palestinian, Linda Sansour, With the mute on, she looks like Michelle Obama (Michelle never looked that good! jsk) former Vice President for Community and External Affairs (Read: Diversity Officer) at the University of Chicago Medical Center (at 0,000 per year payola money! jsk)  and First Lady.

The result of Omar’s politics are that instead of leading her Somali-American constituents towards greater participation in the American dream, she made them suspect.

Americans deserve a full accounting of

the missteps of Comey and the FBI.

By Kimberley A. Strassel

Wall Street Journal, March 25, 2019

Attorney General William Barr has reported to Congress that special counsel Robert Mueller has cleared President Trump and his campaign team of claims of conspiring with Russia during the 2016 election. This is more than an exoneration. It’s a searing indictment of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as a reminder of the need to know the story behind the bureau’s corrosive investigation.

Mr. Mueller’s report likely doesn’t put it that way, but it’s the logical conclusion of his no-collusion finding. The FBI unleashed its powers on a candidate for the office of the U.S. presidency, an astonishing first. It did so on the incredible grounds that the campaign had conspired to aid a foreign government. And it used the most aggressive tools in its arsenal—surveillance of U.S. citizens, secret subpoenas of phone records and documents, even human informants.

The wreckage is everywhere. The nation has been engulfed in conspiracy theories for years. A presidency was hemmed in by the threat of a special counsel. Citizens have gone to jail not for conspiracy, but for after-the-fact interactions with Mr. Mueller’s team. Dozens more have spent enormous amounts of money and time defending their reputations.

None of this should ever have happened absent highly compelling evidence—from the start—of wrongdoing.  Yet from what we know, the FBI operated on the basis of an overheard conversation of third-tier campaign aide George Papadopoulos, as well as a wild “dossier” financed by the rival presidential campaign. Mr. Mueller’s no-collusion finding amounts to a judgment that there never was any evidence. The Papadopoulos claim was thin, the dossier a fabrication.

Which is all the more reason Americans now deserve a full accounting of the missteps of former FBI Director James Comey and his team—in part so that this never happens again. That includes the following: What “evidence” did the FBI have in totality? What efforts did the bureau take to verify it? Did it corroborate anything before launching its probe? What role did political players play? How aware was the FBI that it was being gulled into a dirty-trick operation, and if so, how did it justify proceeding? How intrusive were the FBI methods? And who was harmed?

If Mr. Mueller has done his job properly, his report will address some of this. His team would have had to look into the sources of the allegations as part of determining the documents’ (lack of) veracity. A Mueller report that doesn’t mention the dossier and its political provenance, or questionable news stories used to justify surveillance warrants, for instance, is a report that is playing politics.

The fuller accounting will come only through total disclosure of FBI and Justice Department probe documents. Mr. Trump promised that disclosure in September but has yet to follow through. That transparency is now a necessity. The Mueller report is only half the story. With the special-counsel probe at an end, it’s time to go back the beginning—to the documents that explain its origin. Only then will Americans have the full story of the Russia-collusion narrative.

Ms. Strassel writes the Journal’s Potomac Watch column.

U.S. Sec. of State confronts the globalist agenda.

March 19, 2019

www.israel-commentary.org

Redacted from an article By Joseph Klein

Front Page Magazine,  March 19, 2019

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Friday new U.S. visa restrictions on those individuals directly responsible for any International Criminal Court (ICC) investigation of U.S. personnel in connection with U.S. and allied military and intelligence activities in Afghanistan. The ICC prosecutor had previously requested approval from the ICC’s judges to launch a formal investigation into what the prosecutor called the “situation in Afghanistan.” That request is still pending.

Secretary Pompeo warned all those working for the ICC that “if you’re responsible for the proposed ICC investigation of U.S. personnel in connection with the situation in Afghanistan, you should not assume that you will still have or will get a visa, or that you will be permitted to enter the United States.”

Secretary Pompeo added that the “visa restrictions will not be the end of our efforts. We are prepared to take additional steps, including economic sanctions if the ICC does not change its course.” Secretary Pompeo said that the Trump administration, which has already begun to implement the visa restrictions, would also use such visa restrictions “to deter ICC efforts to pursue allied personnel, including Israelis, without allies’ consent.”

The 123 or so State Parties to the Rome Statute decided, as if it were their sovereign right, to delegate their own domestic authority to adjudicate specific criminal atrocities involving genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression to the ICC.

If they want to indulge in the fiction that the ICC is an impartial and non-political judicial body, they have the right to wear blinders when it comes to ceding jurisdiction over their own citizens to the ICC. However, they do not have the legal or moral right to use the ICC they have embraced to assert jurisdiction over countries such as the United States and Israel, which exercised their sovereign right to decline joining the ICC Rome Statute treaty. The United States and Israel do not need any help from the ICC and have steadfastly refused to recognize its jurisdiction.

The American Civil Liberties Union counts itself among the progressive so-called human rights groups that defend the ICC despite its glaring flaws. Indeed, the ACLU has advocated for the ICC’s assertion of jurisdiction against members of the U.S. military and CIA for alleged torture of less than 100 detained foreigners in Afghanistan – a number that is far below any reasonable threshold of gravity, or of systematic or large-scale commission of atrocities, that would rise to the level of crimes against humanity or war crimes.

Jamil Dakwar, director of the ACLU’s “Human Rights Program” and its main representative to the United Nations, denounced Secretary Pompeo’s announcement of punitive actions against ICC personnel who stick their noses where they do not belong. Dakwar called such actions “an unprecedented attempt to skirt international accountability for well-documented war crimes that haunt our clients to this day.”

Jamil Dakwar is all too typical of the ICC advocates who hypocritically claim to be concerned about “international accountability.” Dakwar, who has described himself as a Palestinian citizen of Israel, like his anti-American, anti-Semitic colleagues, want to use the unaccountable ICC for crass political purposes to exact a pound of flesh from U.S. and Israeli citizens.

While working for the ACLU, Dakwar has displayed his pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel sentiments on various occasions.  In 2017, for example, Dakwar tweeted, “Israeli leaders exploit horrible acts of anti-Semitism to encourage Jews to move to Israel.” Of course, Israel’s raison d’etre as an independent Jewish state is to serve as a safe haven for the Jewish people, who have suffered centuries of persecution and anti-Semitism in other countries around the world. Dakwar is essentially trying to delegitimize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and advocating use of the ICC to help accomplish this purpose.

The International Criminal Court is an illegitimate globalist institution being used by enemies of the United States and Israel as a political law fare weapon. It goes hand in hand with UN bodies such as the anti-American, anti-Israel Human Rights Council. The United States must push back, together with Israel and other freedom-loving countries, against the ICC’s outrageous overreach. Secretary of State Pompeo’s announcement of visa restrictions is a good first step. If the ICC persists on its present course, further action such as sanctions will be necessary.

American Capitalism Is Fine, Thank You

The real debate is whether to accept the Liberal Democrat creative destruction at the heart of the free-market system.

Redacted from an article by Governor Bobby Jindal

Wall Street Journal

March 11, 2019

Liberal politicians, abetted by the mainstream media, regularly document the alleged shortcomings of free-market capitalism. Politicians like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez point to rising inequality and a supposed lack of upward mobility to make the case for socialism.

Today, American Democrats have a more positive view of socialism than capitalism, and less than half of young adults have a positive view of capitalism. But the debate isn’t merely between left-wing socialists and right-wing capitalists. Even President Trump argues that capitalism generates prosperity abroad at the expense of American workers. Years of wage stagnation and diminished economic prospects have soured many Americans on the system that made the U.S. the world’s largest economy.

The problem isn’t market dynamics, but the increased government intervention in the economy that discourages competition. Rather than relying on innovation, many companies often now seek to exploit licensing arbitrage opportunities and engage in other rent-seeking behaviors. They try to beat competitors through regulatory capture and crony capitalism rather than making better products for less.

Almost every large company has calculated the benefits of lobbying government. It is no coincidence that the seemingly recession-proof Washington area dominates the list of the nation’s wealthiest counties. For consumers, this means fewer meaningful choices. For new producers, the goal is often not to displace an incumbent firm but to be purchased by one. Even many tech entrepreneurs hope to sell to Google or Facebook rather than become the next big thing

Democrats, meanwhile, argue for a higher minimum wage, a more progressive income-tax code, stronger unions, and ObamaCare’s Medicaid expansion and exchange subsidies as the best alternative to a single-payer system. Others have pushed for breaking up larger companies—especially tech giants—expanding the earned-income tax credit, raising tariffs, and adopting a universal basic income as possible responses to the displacement caused by globalization and automation.

Small-government conservatives and their libertarian brethren still reject these notions. The biggest threat to American capitalism, they say, comes from liberalism and its incremental—but constant and accumulating—push for a larger, costlier and more powerful government.

They see reform proposals from moderate Republicans as attempts to be partway pregnant. They wonder why the GOP would want to become a weaker, cheaper version of the Democratic Party. Free-market Republicans argue that conservatives should be consistently pulling in the direction of lower taxes, less regulation and smaller government.

For all its faults, capitalism allocates resources more efficiently than other systems. Free markets maximize growth, offering producers the closest approximation of a merit-based system matching talent and effort with tangible rewards.

Any alternative involves bureaucratic, top-down approaches infused with political corruption and rent-seeking. For consumers, markets generate more total goods than centrally controlled systems do. This bottom-up approach responds to consumers’ preferences, rather than subjecting them to the whims of an elite ruling class.

Despite the media hype surrounding Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, the relevant debate isn’t really between socialism and capitalism. The president was right when he declared during the State of the Union: “America will never be a socialist country.” The real debate is whether to accept the creative destruction at the heart of the free-market system—a system responsible for so much prosperity around the world.

Mr. Jindal served as governor of Louisiana, 2008-16, and was a candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

Greenpeace Founder: Global Warming Hoax Pushed by Corrupt Scientists ‘Hooked on Government Grants’

By Robert Kraychik

Breitbart News  March 7, 2019

www.israel-commentary.org

Greenpeace co-founder and former president of Greenpeace Canada Patrick Moore described the cynical and corrupt machinations fueling the narrative of anthropocentric global warming and “climate change” in a Wednesday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak.

Moore explained how fear and guilt are leveraged by proponents of climate change:

Fear has been used all through history to gain control of people’s minds and wallets and all else, and the climate catastrophe is strictly a fear campaign — well, fear and guilt — you’re afraid you’re killing your children because you’re driving them in your SUV and emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and you feel guilty for doing that. There’s no stronger motivation than those two.

Scientists are co-opted and corrupted by politicians and bureaucracies invested in advancing the narrative of “climate change” in order to further centralize political power and control, explained Moore.

Moore noted how “green” companies parasitize taxpayers via favorable regulations and subsidies ostensibly justified by the aforementioned narrative’s claimed threats, all while enjoying propagandistic protection across news media”

And so you’ve got the green movement creating stories that instill fear in the public. You’ve got the media echo chamber — fake news — repeating it over and over and over again to everybody that they’re killing their children, and then you’ve got the green politicians who are buying scientists with government money to produce fear for them in the form of scientific-looking materials, and then you’ve got the green businesses, the rent-seekers and the crony capitalists who are taking advantage of massive subsidies, huge tax write-offs, and government mandates requiring their technologies to make a fortune on this, and then of course you’ve got the scientists who are willingly, they’re basically hooked on government grants.

When they talk about the 99 percent consensus [among scientists] on climate change, that’s a completely ridiculous and false numbers, but most of the scientists — put it in quotes, scientists — who are pushing this catastrophic theory are getting paid by public money.

They are not being paid by General Electric or Dupont or 3M to do this research, where private companies expect to get something useful from their research that might produce a better product and make them a profit in the end because people want it — build a better mousetrap type of idea — but most of what these so-called scientists are doing is simply producing more fear so that politicians can use it control people’s mind and get their votes because some of the people are convinced, ‘Oh, this politician can save my kid from certain doom.’

The narrative of anthropogenic global warming or “climate change” is an existential threat to reason, warned Moore:

It is the biggest lie since people thought the Earth was at the center of the universe. This is Galileo-type stuff. If you remember, Galileo discovered that the sun was at the center of the solar system and the Earth revolved around it. He was sentenced to death by the Catholic Church, and only because he recanted was he allowed to live in house arrest for the rest of his life.

So this was around the beginning of what we call the Enlightenment, when science became the way in which we gained knowledge instead of using superstition and instead of using invisible demons and whatever else, we started to understand that you have to have observation of actual events and then you have to repeat those observations over and over again, and that is basically the scientific method.

“But this abomination that is occurring today in the climate issue is the biggest threat to the Enlightenment that has occurred since Galileo,” declared Moore. “Nothing else comes close to it. This is as bad a thing that has happened o science in the history of science.”

Moore concluded, “It’s taking over science with superstition and a kind of toxic combination of religion and political ideology. There is no truth to this. It is a complete hoax and scam.”

2. Judge Jeanine: The joke’s on you, Speaker Pelosi –   See video below – (The bad Joke is also on the American people) –  March 9, 2019

Their cowardice is not incidental to the problem. It is the problem.

Nor is it a coincidence that the Democratic Party is increasingly both the anti-Israel party and home to a growing number of anti-Semites. To be clear, the two things are not always the same, but something is going on when both are defining elements of a political organization.

One obvious truth is that Dems have failed to deal with anti-Semitism forthrightly, and now are confronted by a metastasizing cancer in their ranks.

Years ago, such as in 1984, when Jesse Jackson referred to New York as “Hymietown,” the outcry was slow at first but eventually unanimous. But Democrats are a different party today, in part because they moved sharply to the left under President Barack Obama. He had both prominent Jewish backers and a 20-year relationship with Wright, whose sermons mixed anti-Semitism with anti-Americanism.

Another development was Obama’s effort to lure Iran in from the pariah-state cold despite its vow to eliminate Israel. And as part of the party’s increased focus on social justice and income inequality, it found itself making common cause with radical bedfellows, including Occupy Wall Street, anarchists and other fringe elements.

To this day, the Nation of Islam’s Louis Farrakhan, who has long embraced dehumanizing imagery and language about Jews, is nonetheless held in high regard by some Democrats, including a handful of top black elected officials. A 2005 picture of Obama with Farrakhan, taken at a Congressional Black Caucus event, only recently surfaced, with the photographer saying he was pressured to keep it secret to protect Obama from criticism.

Tellingly, the emergence of the photo did more to normalize Farrakhan than hurt Obama.

While some far-left groups incorporate anti-Semitism into their global conspiracy theories, others couch their criticism of Israel only in political terms. Yet they never hold despotic regimes, such as Iran, Russia or China, to the same standards they hold Israel, reflecting both their own implicit bigotry and much of the United Nations’ as well.

Consider two groups, the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement and Students for Justice in Palestine, which sometimes overlap and have vocal representation on many college campuses, including in New York City.

The standard indoctrination equates Zionism with colonialism, and Jews with white oppressors. To be fair, these ideas are echoed in the national liberal media, including the New York Times, where Israel is blamed for everything wrong in the Middle East and where demands are made on Jews to make major concessions for peace while excuses are made for the fact that many Muslims refuse even to recognize Israel’s right to exist.

Is it any surprise that there is a rise of anti-Semitic incidents in America and in New York, where such incidents make up more than half of the hate crimes reported?

The various threads of Jew hatred, ancient and modern, discreet and naked, meet in the person of Linda Sarsour, a BDS supporter who helped found the Women’s March, part of the resistance movement against President Trump. Sarsour, a Palestinian-American, has made numerous anti-Jewish statements and she and other leaders of the movement stand accused of discriminating against Jewish women.

Sarsour, who supported Bernie Sanders in 2016, is also a big supporter of Mayor Bill de Blasio and received city grants for her Arab American Association, including 0,000 in 2016 alone.

Naturally, Sarsour defended Omar, and Tuesday she denounced Pelosi for even trying to condemn her anti-Semitism. “Nancy is a typical white feminist upholding the patriarchy doing the dirty work of powerful white men,” Sarsour wrote on Facebook. “God forbid the men are upset.”

Ah yes, race, gender, religion — they wouldn’t be Democrats if identity politics weren’t driving the bus.

None of this is to suggest there are no anti-Semites on the right. There clearly are, including those in white supremacist groups, such as appeared in the infamous 2017 rally at Charlottesville, Va.

At least some are members of the Republican Party.

But there is a major difference as it relates to Israel and Judaism: The evangelical Christian movement is almost exclusively Republican, and it is a fervent supporter of Israel growing out of biblical history and because Israel allows access to Christian holy sites in Jerusalem that were mostly closed under Arab rule.

As a result, any Republican who does not support Israel likely would be shunned by the evangelical movement, which in some states constitutes the largest single bloc of GOP voters.

As Democrats tear themselves apart over what to do about Omar, if anything, they must first realize they have no one to blame but themselves. Maybe then they will also realize that anti-Semitism, like most cancers, is fatal unless it’s removed.

The year 2018 will be deplored by pundits as a bad year of more unpredictable Donald Trump, headlined by wild stock market gyrations, the melodramas of the Robert Mueller investigation and the musical-chair tenures of officials in the Trump administration.

The government is still shut down. Talk of impeachment by the newly Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is in the air. Seemingly every day there are sensational breakthroughs, scandals and bombshells that race through social media and the Internet — only to be forgotten by the next day.

In truth, aside from the Washington hysterias, 2018 was a most successful year for Americans.

In December, the United States reached a staggering level of oil production, pumping some 11.6 million barrels per day. For the first time since 1973, America is now the world’s largest oil producer.

Since Trump took office, the U.S. has increased its oil production by nearly 3 million barrels per day, largely as the result of fewer regulations, more federal leasing, and the continuing brilliance of American frackers and horizontal drillers.

It appears that there is still far more oil beneath U.S. soil than has ever been taken out. American production could soar even higher in the months ahead.

In addition, the United States remains the largest producer of natural gas and the second-greatest producer of coal. The scary old energy-related phraseology of the last half-century — “energy crisis,” “peak oil,” “oil embargo” — no longer exists.

Near-total energy self-sufficiency means the U.S. is no longer strategically leveraged by the Middle East, forced to pay exorbitant political prices to guarantee access to imported oil, or threatened by gasoline prices of to a gallon.

The American economy grew by 4.2 percent in the second quarter of 2018, and by 3.4 percent in the third quarter. American GDP is nearly trillion larger than in January 2017, and nearly trillion larger than the GDP of China. For all the talk of the Chinese juggernaut, three Chinese workers produce about 60 percent of the goods and services produced by one American worker.

In 2018, unemployment fell to a near-record peacetime low of 3.7 percent. That’s the lowest U.S. unemployment rate since 1969.

Black unemployment hit an all-time low in 2018. For the first time in memory, employers are seeking out entry-level workers rather than vice versa.

The poverty rate is also near a historic low, and household income increased. There are about 8 million fewer Americans living below the poverty line than there were eight years ago. Since January 2017, more than 3 million Americans have gone off so-called food stamps.

Abroad, lots of bad things that were supposed to happen simply did not.

After withdrawing from the Paris climate accord, the U.S. exceeded the annual percentage of carbon reductions of most countries that are part of the agreement.

North Korea and the U.S. did not go to war. Instead, North Korea has stopped its provocative nuclear testing and its launching of ballistic missiles over the territory of its neighbors.

Despite all the Trump bluster, NATO and NAFTA did not quite implode. Rather, allies and partners agreed to renegotiate past commitments and agreements on terms more favorable to the U.S.

The United States — and increasingly most of the world — is at last addressing the systematic commercial cheating, technological appropriation, overt espionage, intellectual-property theft, cyber intrusions and mercantilism of the Chinese government.

The Middle East is still chaotic, but it is a mess that is now far less important to the U.S. for a variety of reasons.

Energy-wise, America is not dependent on oil imports from corrupt Gulf monarchies or hostile Islamic states.  Strategy-wise, the new fault lines are not Arab and Islamic cultures versus Israel or the United States.  Instead, it is internecine strife within the Islamic world, mostly with Iran and its Shiite satellites opposing the Sunni Arab monarchies and more moderate Middle Eastern regimes.

For all the pro- and anti-Trump invective and media hysteria, the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation circus, and the bitter midterm elections, the U.S. was relatively calm in 2018 compared with the rest of the world.  There was none of the mass rioting, demonstrations and street violence that occurred recently in France, and none of the existential and unsolvable divides over globalization and Brexit that we saw in Europe

Europe’s three most powerful leaders — Angela Merkel of Germany, Emmanuel Macron of France and Theresa May of the United Kingdom — have worse approval ratings than the embattled Donald Trump.

In sum, the more media pundits claimed that America was on the brink of disaster in 2018, the more Americans became prosperous and secure.

Israel’s Strategic Value: Western Theater 2.0

By Mark Langfan

Israel IS NATO’s South-Eastern Flank Defending Cyprus, Rhodes, Crete, And Even Greece, Against Turkey And An Iranian-Occupied Israel.

1. Now, Israel’s battle-ready Order of Battle gives NATO a dependable, cost-effective, NATO-friendly shaped Battle Space to protect Greek Cyprus from a Turkish/Muslim Attack and devastation which began with the Turkish invasion in 1974.

2. Iran will first topple Jordan soon after a West Bank State is created.

Hamas will overthrow Fatah in the West Bank, as they already have overthrown Fatah in Gaza. A West Bank Hamas Palestinian State will have tens of thousands of smuggled Katyusha Rockets (including VX (persistent) and GB (Sarin) nerve agents (Janes) ranging over Tel Aviv and 70% of Israel’s Jewish population. On Iranian orders, Hamas will fire barrages of rockets into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, provoking an Israeli attempt to mobilize to reinvade the West Bank which will trigger massive Arab/Iranian long-range missile strikes.

3. Such a simultaneous Muslim Scud/Katyusha attack from 5 different directions will annihilate Israel. Israel is NATO’s, and the West’s first, and only line of defense, against the Westward advance of the Iranian Caliphate or a Turkish resurrection of its Ottoman Empire. Turkey is trying to steal billions of dollars of Greek Cypriot and Israeli Eastern Mediterranean gas resources to fund billions of further Islamic Mediterranean military build-up.

4. Without Israel’s Order of Battle protecting Cyprus’ Southeastern Flank and Battle Space, with Turkish frigates and subs infesting the Southern Cyprus waters and cutting off any military reinforcements and with Haifa as Iran’s New Eastern Mediterranean Naval Base, Cyprus, Crete, Rhodes and even Greece will be lost to Turkey and the Iranian Shiite Caliphate. Iranian now-existing Shahib medium-range missiles (1000 miles) will range and cover southern Europe from their new bases in Yafo, Greater Iran. Greece will become indefensible. Iran and/or Turkey will be on Europe‘s doorstep.

The Author:  Mark Langfan is a Florida-based attorney who writes frequently on Middle Eastern affairs and security issues confronting Israel. He is also the Chairman for Americans For A Safe Israel.

(Ouch!!  Let us pray this acknowledged expert is wrong but who could take such a chance?  We must gird ourselves for battle now and make up for yesterday’s left wing illusions. The creation of a Palestinian state can only give succor and an overwhelming advantage to our sworn enemies and would be the height of suicidal capitulation.   jsk)
